Manchester United are likely to be in the market for a goalkeeper this summer, but Ruben Amorim may target more than one.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Reports ahead of the January transfer window suggested that Ruben Amorim wanted to sign two goalkeepers<\/a> at Manchester United<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Fast forward a few months, and you can understand why Amorim took that stance.<\/p>\n

Andre Onana was left out against Newcastle United<\/a> as United\u2019s first-choice stopper attempts to recharge and find some form.<\/p>\n

Altay Bayindir came in but didn\u2019t exactly shine against Newcastle, whilst Tom Heaton is expected to leave United<\/a> this summer.<\/p>\n

Add in that Onana has interest from Saudi Arabia<\/a>, and United may end up needing two or even three goalkeepers.<\/p>\n

Heaton\u2019s exit means United may be keen to add another homegrown goalkeeper this summer.<\/p>\n

United have been linked with Freddie Woodman<\/a> ahead of his Preston North End contract expiring this summer.<\/p>\n

The Sun<\/a> now report that United are interested in signing Aaron Ramsdale at the end of the season.<\/p>\n

Ramsdale has suffered relegation with Southampton and may not fancy playing Championship football next season.<\/p>\n

The Saints paid \u00a325million to sign Ramsdale last summer, as noted by BBC Sport<\/a>, luring the England international away from Arsenal.<\/p>\n

Ramsdale, described as \u2018brave\u2019 by Russell Martin in the Daily Echo<\/a>, is wanted by West Ham United, with the stopper already attracting Premier League interest.<\/p>\n

United now appear to be lurking in the race for Ramsdale, in a move which may not exactly excite United fans.<\/p>\n

If Ramsdale is being eyed up as a first-choice goalkeeper to replace Onana, we just can\u2019t get on board.<\/p>\n

Ramsdale has now suffered three Premier League relegations with Bournemouth, Sheffield United and Southampton, and Arsenal were happy to let him go after signing David Raya.<\/p>\n

The 26-year-old has yet to prove that he can be a truly top-level goalkeeper and going from Onana to Ramsdale would feel like a sideways move \u2013 or even a backward step.<\/p>\n

United may view Ramsdale as competition for places in goal, especially given his homegrown status.<\/p>\n

Yet that would surely cost decent money, with Southampton no doubt expecting their \u00a325million back from last summer.<\/p>\n

United have so many positions to improve this summer, so spending \u00a325million on a goalkeeper who wouldn\u2019t immediately be first choice would raise eyebrows.<\/p>\n
