Suryakumar took to Instagram posting about the successful injury and wrote, \u201cLife Update: Underwent surgery for a sports hernia in the lower right abdomen. Grateful to share that after a smooth surgery, I\u2019m already on the road to recovery. After an ankle surgery in 2023, the stylish India middle-order batter had previously undergone the same sports hernia surgery back in 2024.\u00a0The Mumbai batter will reportedly recover and rehab in the BCCI Centre for Excellence in <a rel=\"noamphtml noopener\" class=\"keywordtourl\" href=\"https:\/\/indianexpress.com\/section\/cities\/bangalore\/\" target=\"_blank\">Bengaluru<\/a> after two weeks.<\/p>\n<p>Story continues below this ad<\/p>\n<p>Prolific season with bat<\/p>\n<p>Suryakumar had a tremendous season with the bat for <a rel=\"noamphtml noopener\" class=\"keywordtourl\" href=\"https:\/\/indianexpress.com\/about\/mumbai-indians\/\" target=\"_blank\">Mumbai Indians<\/a>. He became only the second batter after great <a rel=\"noamphtml noopener\" class=\"keywordtourl\" href=\"https:\/\/indianexpress.com\/about\/sachin-tendulkar\/\" target=\"_blank\">Sachin Tendulkar<\/a> to score over 600 runs for <a rel=\"noamphtml noopener\" class=\"keywordtourl\" href=\"https:\/\/indianexpress.com\/about\/mumbai-indians\/\" target=\"_blank\">MI<\/a> in a season. The \u2018360-degree\u2019 batter ended the season with 717 runs, only second to <a rel=\"noamphtml noopener\" class=\"keywordtourl\" href=\"https:\/\/indianexpress.com\/section\/sports\/ipl\/stats\/most-runs\/\" target=\"_blank\">Orange Cap<\/a> holder Sai Sudharsan, who had scored 759. His prolific season with the bat helped Mumbai Indians reach the knockouts and beat <a rel=\"noamphtml noopener\" class=\"keywordtourl\" href=\"https:\/\/indianexpress.com\/about\/gujarat-titans\/\" target=\"_blank\">Gujarat Titans<\/a> in the Eliminator before losing the second Qualifier against <a rel=\"noamphtml noopener\" class=\"keywordtourl\" href=\"https:\/\/indianexpress.com\/about\/shreyas-iyer\/\" target=\"_blank\">Shreyas Iyer<\/a>\u2019s <a rel=\"noamphtml noopener\" class=\"keywordtourl\" href=\"https:\/\/indianexpress.com\/about\/punjab-kings\/\" target=\"_blank\">Punjab Kings<\/a>. Suryakumar was adjudged the Player of the Series (Most Valuable Player) for <a rel=\"noamphtml noopener\" class=\"keywordtourl\" href=\"https:\/\/indianexpress.com\/section\/sports\/ipl\/\" target=\"_blank\">IPL<\/a> 2025.<\/p>\n<p>He then led Triumph Knights Mumbai North East in the T20 Mumbai League and scored 122 in the five innings. However, his team could only win one out of five league matches and finished sixth in the <a rel=\"noamphtml noopener\" class=\"keywordtourl\" href=\"https:\/\/indianexpress.com\/section\/sports\/ipl\/points-table\/\" target=\"_blank\">points table<\/a>, featuring a total of eight teams.<\/p>\n<p>India\u2019s next T20 International assignment will be the Bangladesh tour in August, later this year.
