\n\tThis year\u2019s milestone 50th anniversary<\/a> celebration of Saturday Night Live<\/a> likely felt like a family reunion for Abby Elliott<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\tAfter her four-season run on the NBC<\/a> sketch comedy show from 2008 to 2012, the Golden Globe nominee recently opened up about her family\u2019s legacy on the show, which includes dad Chris Elliott<\/a>\u2018s 1994-\u201995 run and her uncle Steve Higgins<\/a>\u2018 was co-head writer from 1995 to \u201997, having since served as a producer on SNL.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI mean, it\u2019s wild,\u201d she said on SiriusXM\u2019s The Julia Cunningham Show<\/a>, noting that Higgins is \u201cmy mom\u2019s sister\u2019s husband. \u2026 I mean, something in the Niedert women. I mean, they must just like funny men.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tAbby\u2019s cousin and Steve\u2019s son John Higgins<\/a> has been on the show since 2021, appearing as part of the comedy trio Please Don\u2019t Destroy<\/a>. The group frequently pokes fun at their own \u201cnepo baby\u201d status, with Martin Herlihy<\/a>, who is former SNL writer\/producer Tim Herlihy\u2019s son.<\/p>\n

\n\tAdmitting that holidays with the family are \u201creally fun,\u201d Abby said, \u201cWe like to party and have fun. And it\u2019s a time where no one\u2019s trying to, you know, do bits \u2019cause it\u2019s like chill time. It\u2019s family time to chill. But we dance, we have dance parties.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tChris has previously noted he had a \u201cterrible time\u201d on the long-running Lorne Michaels<\/a> show after he was first offered a spot in 1985 but turned it down due to his job on Late Night with David Letterman, where he met Abby\u2019s mom, talent booker Paula Niedert.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI always have to preface this by saying that all the cast, they really liked me, they were all really nice,\u201d he told Salon<\/a> in 2012. \u201cI think I just went there when I was too old. I had already done Get a Life, Cabin Boy and nine years working for Dave, and I was amazed that people like Chris Farley and Adam Sandler were still competing for airtime on the show, which is the process there.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tChris added, \u201cIt\u2019s a really unhealthy process. You\u2019re doing comedy but you\u2019re competing with your fellow cast members for airtime.
