{"id":215212,"date":"2025-06-26T06:43:12","date_gmt":"2025-06-26T06:43:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/215212\/"},"modified":"2025-06-26T06:43:12","modified_gmt":"2025-06-26T06:43:12","slug":"meta-is-adding-ai-powered-summaries-to-whatsapp","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/215212\/","title":{"rendered":"Meta is adding AI-powered summaries to WhatsApp"},"content":{"rendered":"<p id=\"speakable-summary\" class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Meta announced on Wednesday that it\u2019s adding an AI-powered summaries feature to WhatsApp. The optional new feature uses Meta AI to summarize unread messages in a chat. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This summary would only be visible to you, not others in your chat, the company notes.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The feature builds on the AI technology that <a href=\"https:\/\/engineering.fb.com\/2025\/04\/29\/security\/whatsapp-private-processing-ai-tools\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Meta released in April<\/a>, which allowed the company to implement AI features that don\u2019t impact encryption or user privacy.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cMessage Summaries uses Private Processing technology, which allows Meta AI to generate a response without Meta or WhatsApp ever seeing your messages or the private summaries. No one else in the chat can see that you summarized unread messages either,\u201d the company said in a <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.whatsapp.com\/catch-up-on-conversations-with-private-message-summaries\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">blog post<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">While the feature is turned off by default, WhatsApp shows a little icon to indicate that the feature is available for you. <\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" height=\"680\" width=\"680\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/493931276_2156103918222996_2302475784316621764_n.gif\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3022158\"\/><strong>Image Credits:<\/strong>Meta<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Meta is initially rolling out the feature in the U.S. with English language support. It will reach more countries and languages later this year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Until now, users could access Meta AI within the chat to ask general questions or tag a message to give the chatbot context. However, Meta AI couldn\u2019t read your messages. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Meta said that the new stack allows WhatsApp to access context from your chat privately to process requests through its AI.
