Tourists were spooked<\/a> when the roof collapsed in one of the busiest airports in Spain<\/a>. Palma Airport had emergency sirens wailing as part of a glass ceiling fell down in a busy area of the airport<\/p>\n Construction work on the facade of the building<\/a> continues, but the incident raises questions from the airport and tourists as to how it could have happened. In an initial analysis, Spanish airports authority AENA blamed the collapse on debris from ongoing construction work at the airport.<\/p>\n The debris is believed to have fallen onto a glass roof near the entrance to the baggage claim area, bringing it down next to a set of vending machines. An AENA spokesman told local press: “People in charge of the airport<\/a> are already analysing what happened in order to adopt the appropriate measures and to determine responsibilities if necessary.”<\/p>\n Airport workers said afterwards that it was a “miracle” no one had been seriously injured by the collapsing ceiling. Many stunned onlookers watched where the debris fell, as chaos was briefly brought to the popular airport.<\/p>\n An investigation into the incident is ongoing. This isn’t the first incident at Majorca’s busiest airport<\/a>.
