which is open until July 11 &#8211; looks at their residency status and associated rights five years after transition period<\/p>\n<p>\n        Prof Michaela Benson wants to hear about experiences of Britons and the Brexit Withdrawal Agreement scheme (right, a WA residency card)<br \/>\n        Photo: Michaela Benson \/ (cards) Church of England Diocese in Europe\n    <\/p>\n<p>Britons in France and the rest of the EU are being asked to report on how their lives have been affected by Brexit, five years on from the end of the transition period.<\/p>\n<p>Sociology professor Michaela Benson, who has been following impacts on Britons since Brexit, has launched a new survey and is looking for Britons of all ages, who were living in the EU (or EEA\/Efta countries) before 2021, to take part.<\/p>\n<p>The survey can be completed <a href=\"https:\/\/lancasteruni.eu.qualtrics.com\/jfe\/form\/SV_7OH83COCuBUvJH0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">at this link<\/a> and entries must be completed by July 11.<\/p>\n<p>Prof Benson, from the UK\u2019s Lancaster University, has run several <a href=\"https:\/\/www.connexionfrance.com\/news\/moving-to-france-post-brexit-researcher-wants-to-hear-experiences\/145261\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">previous related projects<\/a> including the website <a href=\"https:\/\/brexitbritsabroad.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Brexit Brits Abroad<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>She said her new survey focuses on Britons\u2019 experiences of accessing and securing their post-Brexit \u2018Withdrawal Agreement\u2019 residency status and associated rights.<\/p>\n<p>All adult Britons falling under the WA protections had to apply for special \u2018article 50\u2019 WA residency cards to prove their status (Britons did not need residency cards prior to this, as EU citizens).<\/p>\n<p>She said: \u201cThe survey considers the longer tail of Brexit for Britons resident in the EU, EEA and Efta countries.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs the fifth anniversary of the end of the transition period approaches, it is timely to revisit the implementation of citizens\u2019 rights, to document and identify any issues and challenges faced by this population in securing their future rights, proof and recognition of their status.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She added: \u201cWe are keen that voices are heard and to that end would ask people to share news of this survey with family and friends affected by the changes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>You can read more about the survey <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lancaster.ac.uk\/news\/call-for-british-citizens-to-have-their-say-five-years-on-from-brexit-transition\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>For a Connexion report on some findings of a previous study Prof Benson organised, see <a href=\"https:\/\/www.connexionfrance.com\/news\/embarrassed-to-be-british-britons-in-the-eu-share-views-on-brexit\/271097\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">this article<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Online poll &#8211;
