{"id":215949,"date":"2025-06-26T13:15:16","date_gmt":"2025-06-26T13:15:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/215949\/"},"modified":"2025-06-26T13:15:16","modified_gmt":"2025-06-26T13:15:16","slug":"greater-manchesters-second-ever-reform-politician-repeatedly-punched-in-head-during-alleged-attack","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/215949\/","title":{"rendered":"Greater Manchester&#8217;s second ever Reform politician &#8216;repeatedly punched in head&#8217; during alleged attack"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The councillor has been left shaken up following the alleged incident on Tuesday night<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/0_Jordan-Tarrant-Short-Reform-councillor-for-Balderstone-and-Kirkholt-Rochdale.jpg\" alt=\"Jordan Tarrant-Short, Reform councillor for Balderstone and Kirkholt, Rochdale\" loading=\"eager\"  \/>Jordan Tarrant-Short, Reform councillor for Balderstone and Kirkholt, Rochdale(Image: LDRS)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Rochdale\u2019s only Reform councillor says he was subjected to a terrifying attack.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Coun Jordan Tarrant-Short says he was \u2018repeatedly punched in the head\u2019 on Tuesday night (June 24), in what he believes to be a politically-motivated assault.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The Balderstone and Kirklholt representative was left shaken by the incident, which left him with swelling and light bruising to the head.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Greater Manchester Police confirmed officers are investigating reports of an assault on Bury Street in Heywood.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Speaking after the incident, Coun Tarrant-Short said: \u201cI was attacked by a member of the public that wasn\u2019t happy I was a member of Reform UK, which resulted in him punching me repeatedly in the head.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">\u201cIn my opinion this was a politically motivated attack. The matter is now with the police for them to investigate and don\u2019t wish to comment further until the police have concluded their investigation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Coun Tarrant-Short became Reform\u2019s second elected Greater Manchester councillor after taking the Balderstone and Kirkholt seat.
