Canelo Alvarez<\/a> and Terence Crawford<\/a> will lock horns in a \u2018mega-fight\u2019 later this year.<\/p>\n

Canelo will defend his undisputed super-middleweight championship against Crawford<\/a> on Saturday September 13 at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada.<\/p>\n

The 34-year-old from Guadalajara is two decades into what has been an exceptional professional career, which began back in 2005 when he was just 15-years-old.<\/p>\n

Despite the considerable success that he has achieved over the years, which includes winning world titles across four weight classes, Canelo has tasted defeat on two occasions during his tenure, with the first of these coming against retired pound-for-pound superstar Floyd Mayweather back in 2013.<\/a><\/p>\n

Canelo was beaten via unanimous decision to lose his WBC light-middleweight title to Mayweather when they clashed at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas 12 years ago.<\/p>\n

As the Mexican great prepares for his monumental showdown with \u2018Bud\u2019 Crawford he told Fight Hype<\/a> that he believes Crawford is a better fighter than Mayweather was.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t know, I don\u2019t really know but I put that fight in another place right now.<\/p>\n

I think Crawford is a little better than Mayweather but I have more experience right now.<\/p>\n

I don\u2019t wanna compare this fight with other fights. I think this fight is one of the best fights in the boxing history and that\u2019s it.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Crawford is making the jump up in two weight classes ahead of his bout against Canelo, having spent the majority of his career campaigning at welterweight.<\/p>\n

As for Canelo, the 34-year-old has been a dominant force at super-middleweight since making the move up from 160lbs in 2018, defeating the likes of Gennady Golovkin, Jermell Charlo and Callum Smith amongst others.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford will lock horns in a \u2018mega-fight\u2019 later this year.
