After months of speculation (names like Alfonso Cuar\u00f3n, Danny Boyle and Edward Berger were all thrown around), Dune\u2019s Denis Villeneuve has now been confirmed<\/a> as the first director of the new James Bond era.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s not as if it\u2019s ever been an easy job but it\u2019s likely never been quite this hard. Not only must Villeneuve contend with new Bond bosses at Amazon<\/a> eager to scatter click-to-buy links throughout action set pieces but he\u2019s also going to introduce an entirely new 007.<\/p>\n

But who will that be? Rumours have suggested names such as Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Tom Hardy, Idris Elba<\/a>, Aaron Pierre, Theo James and James Norton but without any firm intel to go on, it\u2019s anyone\u2019s guess.<\/p>\n

Taylor-Johnson fueled<\/a> speculation at the recent premiere for 28 Years Later when he was asked, \u201cWhat are you doing next?\u201d, and he replied, \u201cI can\u2019t talk about it,\u201d before being swiftly escorted away. Ex-Bond Pierce Brosnan also supported<\/a> Hardy as a potential pick, saying his MobLand co-star would be \u201cwonderful\u201d. When James was asked about it in a Guardian interview<\/a>, he said the prospect would be \u201cterrifying\u201d.<\/p>\n
