contracts came to an end.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The journey from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unitedinfocus.com\/club\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Manchester United<\/a> youth ranks to the first team at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unitedinfocus.com\/club\/stadium\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Old Trafford<\/a> is not an easy one.<\/p>\n<p>The reason <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unitedinfocus.com\/news\/who-are-the-class-of-92\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">United\u2019s \u2018Class of 92\u2019<\/a> is so special is that you rarely see so many talents coming through at the same time.<\/p>\n<p>Marcus Rashford and Kobbie Mainoo have made the jump in recent times, but even they have encountered problems at Old Trafford.<\/p>\n<p>Many prospects have to leave United in search of first-team action, and that is the case again this summer.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.unitedinfocus.com\/academy\/manchester-united-decide-to-release-three-young-talents-one-hoped-to-impress-ruben-amorim-this-summer\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">United decided to release Sam Murray<\/a> alongside Jack Kingdon and James Nolan, with the trio moving on despite playing important roles in the youth setup.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/GettyImages-2209783827-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"Manchester United U21s Sam Murray in action v exit<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Murray played 12 times in Premier League 2 last season, before making another three appearances in the Premier League 2 playoffs.<\/p>\n<p>United signed Murray from Huddersfield Town in 2017, meaning he spent eight years in the United ranks.<\/p>\n<p>The 20-year-old has been released this summer and departs United without making a first-team appearance.<\/p>\n<p>Murray hasn\u2019t been forced to wait too long to find a new club, though, having signed a deal with Carlisle United.<\/p>\n<p>Murray has penned a one-year contract with the National League side, who have suffered back-to-back relegations.<\/p>\n<p>Carlisle\u2019s Head of Football Operations Marc Tierney has told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.carlisleunited.co.uk\/news\/murray-arrives-bp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Carlisle\u2019s official website<\/a> that he thinks Murray is a \u2018promising\u2019 talent with \u2018real potential\u2019 in the years to come.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re excited to welcome a promising left-back to Brunton Park,\u201d said Tierney. \u201cHe is a grounded and driven young player, and he adds strong competition to the squad and brings real potential for the future,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p href=\"https:\/\/www.unitedinfocus.com\/tag\/mark-hughes\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mark Hughes<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.unitedinfocus.com\/news\/manchester-united-loanee-will-now-be-coached-by-former-old-trafford-hero-as-steven-gerrard-link-up-ruled-out\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Hughes became Carlisle boss earlier this year<\/a>, but couldn\u2019t save the club from relegation to the National League.<\/p>\n<p>Hughes has now admitted that he is looking forward to coaching Murray, believing him to be a \u2018great young talent\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re delighted that Sam is joining us, he\u2019s a great young talent who has been at a great club,\u201d said Hughes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe\u2019s a left sided player with good pace and good technical ability, and I\u2019m looking forward to working with him,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>Murray will now take his first steps into men\u2019s football and will hope to make a big impact with Carlisle as they push for promotion back to the EFL.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>  <script async
