Doc Martin<\/a> star Caroline Catz’s British movie The Extraordinary Miss Flower<\/a> has confirmed a streaming release date.<\/p>\n

The film, which premiered at last year’s London Film Festival<\/a> and had a recent cinema release<\/a>, has been compared to a “filmic fever dream” (via BFI<\/a>) and stars Icelandic singer Emil\u00edana Torrini.<\/p>\n

Based on a box of love letters sent to her friend Zoe’s later mother Geraldine Flower, the movie combines music, readings and dramatic scenes, with Torrini recording an album that forms the basis of the movie.<\/p>\n

Viewers looking to catch the film on streaming are in luck, as The Extraordinary Miss Flower will be released on BFI Player on 21 July<\/strong>. Prime Video<\/a> users can add the streamer as a channel.<\/p>\n

Loud and Clear<\/a> called the project “a captivating biopic that invites the audience to take a closer look at an extraordinary life” in their review, while Shadows on the Wall<\/a> said the filmmakers and Torrini have “created a wonderful outburst of creativity stemming from an unexpected source”.<\/p>\n

Alongside Catz, who portrays Geraldine Flower, the movie features appearances by the likes of Richard Ayoade, Alice Lowe and Nick Cave, while Iain Forsyth and Jane Pollard have directed.<\/p>\n

“Being involved with this film was a mad and riveting experience,” Torrini previously said. “I’ve never been on a film set like this before, and I still don’t really know what happened. I am in total awe of Zoe [Flower], Iain [Forsyth] and Jane [Pollard] to pull this off in such a short time.<\/p>\n

“The artists and crew were incredible and showed such a deep understanding of where these songs came from, emotionally and creatively. A huge thank you to Sam [Dyson, executive producer] and the team at Distiller for believing in the project and supporting us.”<\/p>\n

The Extraordinary Miss Flower<\/strong> will stream on BFI Player from 21 July.<\/strong><\/p>\n
