Scotland has become an increasingly popular filming location for Hollywood productions in recent years,\u00a0with Glasgow and Edinburgh<\/a> regularly transformed for major movies.<\/p>\n

Recent productions include The Batman, Avengers: Infinity War,\u00a0Indiana Jones\u00a0and the Dial of Destiny, the remake of\u00a0The Running Man, and, most recently,\u00a0JJ Abrams’ newest feature Ghost Writer.<\/p>\n

Now, with Spider-Man 4,\u00a0Henry Cavill’s Highlander reboot and Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey\u00a0all set\u00a0to film in Scotland in the not-too-distant future,\u00a0 another major production is also on its way.<\/p>\n

Deadline has confirmed\u00a0that Joel Coen\u2019s next film, Jack\u00a0of Spades,\u00a0will shoot this summer in Scotland, with Josh O\u2019Connor – primarily known for\u00a0his portrayal of Prince Charles in The Crown – in the lead role.<\/p>\n

Coen is\u00a0best known of course for his collaborations with his younger brother, Ethan. Among their most acclaimed works are Fargo, True Grit, The Big Lebowski,\u00a0O Brother, Where Art Thou? and No Country for Old Men.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The film will follow Coen’s\u00a0previous solo release,\u00a02021\u2019s\u00a0The Tragedy Of Macbeth, starring\u00a0Denzel Washington and\u00a0Frances McDormand.<\/p>\n

Plot\u00a0details for\u00a0Jack of Spades\u00a0remain under wraps, but there are reportedly offers out to two British actresses to star alongside O\u2019Connor.<\/p>\n

The Herald<\/a> understands that Coen is already in Glasgow ahead of filming starting.<\/p>\n

He said: \u201cI love Scotland, I visit there a lot for the countryside, the landscape of it. I go up to the Isle of Skye.<\/p>\n

“Who knows, maybe some day we will do a movie set in Scotland. It will probably have an American character in it though.\u201d<\/p>\n

In other film news, Deadline also reports that Russell Crowe has joined Henry Cavill’s Highlander reboot.<\/p>\n

The Oscar-winning actor\u00a0is set to play Cavill\u2019s mentor in a variation on the part played by Sean Connery in the 1986 original.<\/p>\n
