Chris Hemsworth recently shared a video and message to social media which many fans took as an indication that his time in the MCU may be winding down, and there’s been speculation that his upcoming role in Avengers: Doomsday<\/strong> might even be his final time swinging Mj\u00f6lnir.<\/p>\n

There’s a chance this might be the case, but if Hemsworth is planning to hang up the hammer, it sounds like Marvel Studios might be forging ahead with a couple of Thor<\/strong>-related projects without him.<\/p>\n

A recent rumor claimed that a fifth solo Thor movie is officially moving forward without Love and Thunder<\/strong> director Taika Waititi, and Daniel Richtman<\/strong><\/a> is now reporting that another project titled Thor Quest<\/strong> is also in development.<\/p>\n

We have no idea if this will be a movie or Disney+ series (the latter is probably a safer bet), and the scooper doesn’t have any other details. There are no specific comic books titled Thor Quest, but there are some Disney-produced children’s activity books. Could this be a new family-friendly animated series, perhaps?<\/p>\n

“Playing Thor has been one of the greatest honors of my life,”<\/strong> Hemsworth wrote in his recent post. “For the last 15 years I’ve held Mjolnir and then Stormbreaker as the God of Thunder, but what made it truly special\u2026 was sharing it with all of you. Your passion, your cheers, and your love for this character have meant everything to me. Thank you for making my journey through the Marvel Cinematic Universe unforgettable… Next up, Doomsday!”<\/strong><\/p>\n

It certainly sounded\u00a0like he was\u00a0bidding farewell to the character here, but it’s generally assumed that Hemsworth will also be a part of Avengers: Secret Wars<\/strong> – unless the Mighty Asgardian warrior is set to join his ancestors in Valhalla in Doomsday!<\/p>\n

Hemsworth has previously suggested that it might be time to kill off the character.<\/p>\n

“I feel like we\u2019d probably have to close the book if I ever did it again, you know what I mean? I feel like it probably warrants that. I feel like it\u2019d probably be the finale, but that\u2019s not based on anything anyone\u2019s told me or any sort of plans. You have this birth of a hero, the journey of a hero, then the death of a hero, and I don\u2019t know… am I at that stage? Who knows?”\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Avengers: Doomsday <\/strong>and Avengers: Secret Wars<\/strong> were recently hit with significant delays, with Doomsday now set to arrive in theaters on December 18, 2026, and Secret Wars positioned\u00a0for December 17, 2027.<\/p>\n

Both movies\u00a0will be directed by the Russo brothers, who also make their MCU return after helming Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War <\/strong>and Avengers: Endgame<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/p>\n
