Canelo Alvarez<\/a> is just months away from his monumental clash with Terence Crawford<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Mexican great will lock horns with \u2018Bud\u2019 Crawford on Saturday September 13 at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada.<\/a><\/p>\n

Canelo returned to the ring last month when he dethroned IBF super-middleweight champion William Scull in Riyadh to achieve undisputed status at 168lbs for the second time in his professional career.<\/p>\n

Before his \u2018mega-fight\u2019 with Crawford was announced, it was rumoured that Canelo was said to be considering a showdown with newly-crowned WBC world light-heavyweight champion David Benavidez.<\/p>\n

Benavidez, who is known as \u2018The Monster\u2019, had been targeting a bout against Canelo for a number of years and it looked as though the 28-year-old\u2019s dream was going to come true after he was named the mandatory challenger to the Mexican\u2019s WBC title at 168lbs.<\/p>\n

Speaking on The G.O.A.T.S Podcast<\/a>, Canelo admitted that a fight with Crawford appeals to him more than one with Benavidez, as he claims \u2018Bud\u2019 brings more to the table at this stage of his career.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou can see the career of Terence Crawford or Benavidez. Terence Crawford is undisputed champion in two weight classes, many championship fights so he brings something to the table, he brings something to the table for my history and that\u2019s [what it\u2019s] all about.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

After he failed to secure a showdown with Canelo, Benavidez made the decision to make the move up to light-heavyweight, where he captured the WBC Interim title with a victory over Oleksandr Gvozdyk last summer.<\/p>\n

\u2018The Monster\u2019 was recently elevated to full champion after Dmitry Bivol<\/a> opted to vacate his crown to pursue a trilogy bout against Artur Beterbiev<\/a>.<\/p>\n
