Weezer<\/a> revealed during their Coachella 2025<\/a> appearance that they have been working on a new movie project.<\/p>\n

The band played at Day 2 of the first weekend of the California festival<\/a> last Saturday (April 12), playing a set of classic songs in a set that had only been announced a few days ahead of time<\/a>.<\/p>\n

It was during the set that frontman Rivers Cuomo<\/a> told the crowd that the band had been busy on a mysterious film project over the last month.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve been busy making the Weezer movie back in LA the last couple weeks, but when Coachella called us up, said, \u2018Hey Weezer, could you guys make it out for a surprise appearance?,\u2019 we\u2019re like, \u2018Heck yeah!\u2019\u201d he said. \u201cIt feels so good to be here with you guys and let out these emotions.\u201d<\/p>\n

No further details about the film project have been confirmed, although as reported by Stereogum<\/a>, one Weezer subreddit user noted that the band have invited fans to a \u201cprivate filmed merchandise signing for a select few fans for a TBA video\u201d on April 21.<\/p>\n

The fans in question will be asked to sign NDAs to prevent the nature of the video being made public, while no photography will be allowed.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s been a newsworthy week for Weezer \u2013 last week, Jillian Shriner, the wife of bassist Scott, was taken into custody in Los Angeles after sustaining a non-life-threatening gunshot wound from a police officer<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In a complex scenario involving an unrelated hit-and-run car chase, Shriner is said to have fired her handgun at one of the suspects and then pointed it at officers, refusing to lower it. She was \u201cbooked for attempted murder\u201d, and later posted bail for $1million.<\/p>\n
