Aside from Hamilton\u2019s victory in the sprint race at Shanghai, which came very much against the run of play, the team has only mustered three podium finishes so far, all of which Hamilton\u2019s team mate <a href=\"https:\/\/www.racefans.net\/charles-leclerc\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Charles Leclerc<\/a> scored.<\/p>\n<p>For this weekend the team is introducing one of its most significant upgrades so far this year. \u201cThe team have worked really hard to bring a new floor,\u201d Hamilton told the official F1 channel. \u201cI really don\u2019t know what kind of step it is, so I\u2019ll find out tomorrow.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>However Hamilton said his focus is on preparing for next season, which will be his second at Ferrari. It will see the introduction of the biggest overhaul in the technical regulations for 12 years.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am focused more, I would say, on changes in the background, foundation-building stuff that we need to put in place in order to have a better 2026,\u201d said Hamilton.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou always want upgrades, so I\u2019m grateful for every little bit, whether it\u2019s a small or big piece. What I would like to say is don\u2019t expect much change.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHopefully tomorrow we\u2019ll find something that we didn\u2019t expect, but again we don\u2019t really know, so we will find out tomorrow whether or not. Hopefully it will be a step in the right direction and I think that\u2019s the most important thing, that we are moving forwards.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"text-above-ad\">Advert | <a href=\"https:\/\/www.racefans.net\/contribute-racefans\/racefans-supporter\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Become a RaceFans supporter and go ad-free<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Leclerc is hoping the upgrade provides a general increase in downforce. \u201cThere are problems, we are aware of them, we are trying to tackle them,\u201d he explained. \u201cThe slow speed [corners] have been an overall weakness so far.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAre we targeting to try and improve the slow speed performance? Yes. Is there a specific weakness? I honestly don\u2019t really think so.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think it\u2019s just overall downforce that we need at low speed that I hope we\u2019ll see [get] better this weekend.
