{"id":218252,"date":"2025-06-27T09:29:10","date_gmt":"2025-06-27T09:29:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/218252\/"},"modified":"2025-06-27T09:29:10","modified_gmt":"2025-06-27T09:29:10","slug":"sheffield-gym-goers-quizzed-as-part-of-mens-mental-health-study-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/218252\/","title":{"rendered":"Sheffield gym-goers quizzed as part of men&#8217;s mental health study"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Dr Mason trained the gym&#8217;s strength and conditioning coach, Osman Jama, to conduct part of the research.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Mr Jama thinks the gym space allows men to have more open conversations.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;One of the main points is that the gym is not labelled as a mental health service, so it takes away that element of you&#8217;re receiving treatment,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;You&#8217;re in a space where you&#8217;re unwinding and de-stressing.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Allowing participants to guide the study made teenagers more engaged and honest in their responses, the project said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;They made it feel like they&#8217;re here for you and not just the research, said 16-year-old participant Tybias.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;They connected on a deeper level.&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Dr Mason trained the gym&#8217;s strength and conditioning coach, Osman Jama, to conduct part of the research.
