{"id":218439,"date":"2025-06-27T11:09:09","date_gmt":"2025-06-27T11:09:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/218439\/"},"modified":"2025-06-27T11:09:09","modified_gmt":"2025-06-27T11:09:09","slug":"major-max-verstappen-change-as-gianpiero-lambiase-misses-austrian-gp","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/218439\/","title":{"rendered":"Major Max Verstappen change as Gianpiero Lambiase misses Austrian GP"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Max Verstappen\u2019s long-time race engineer\u00a0Gianpiero Lambiase will be absent from the Austrian Grand Prix this weekend due to personal circumstances.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Red Bull Racing confirmed to PlanetF1.com that Lambiase, who has been with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.planetf1.com\/driver\/max-verstappen\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Verstappen<\/strong><\/a> ever since the Dutchman\u2019s move to Red Bull in 2016, will miss this weekend as\u00a0Simon Rennie steps in.<\/p>\n<p>Max Verstappen loses long-time race engineer for Austrian GP<\/p>\n<p>Additional reporting by Thomas Maher<\/p>\n<p>\u2018GP\u2019 and Verstappen are perhaps the most well-known race engineer and driver pairing on the grid with the two having plenty of frank exchanges over the course of their working relationship.<\/p>\n<p>In Austria however, Verstappen\u2019s comments and feedback will be heard by Rennie who is the\u00a0Group Leader of Simulation Engineering at Red Bull.<\/p>\n<p>Rennie has experience being a trackside race engineer though having worked with Fernando Alonso and Kimi Raikkonen in the past.<\/p>\n<p>In 2013, he moved to Red Bull to become Mark Webber\u2019s engineer before working with Daniel Ricciardo from 2014.<\/p>\n<p>In 2019, the British engineer switched to a factory role but was back on the grid in 2020, this time in the ears of Alex Albon. It was to\u00a0Rennie that Raikkonen produced his\u00a0\u201cLeave me alone, I know what to do\u201d that has since gone down in F1 folklore.<\/p>\n<p>2013 saw him move across to Red Bull and into the ears of Webber in a job swap with\u00a0Ciaron Pilbeam.
