Anita Dobson has shared her husband Brian May<\/a>\u2019s reaction to the rumour Freddie Mercury<\/a> has a secret daughter.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s claimed in a new biography about the Queen frontman<\/a> that the child was conceived while he was having an affair with the wife of a close friend in 1976.<\/p>\n

In the forthcoming release<\/a>, titled Love, Freddie: Freddie Mercury<\/a>\u2019s Secret Life and Love, it\u2019s alleged that Mercury\u2019s inner circle,<\/a> including his bandmates, have known of the daughter\u2019s existence for almost five decades.<\/p>\n

However, it\u2019s now been revealed the revelation was news to guitarist May, who was left shocked when he heard about it.<\/p>\n

Ex-EastEnders star Dobson shared the couple\u2019s response to the claim, telling The Mirror: \u201cI went \u2018What?\u2019 I thought, \u2018No,\u2019 And I said to Brian, \u2018Do you know about this?\u2019 And he said: \u2018Do you believe this?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

She continued: \u201cThere must be lots of people who have children that we don\u2019t know about. It\u2019s just because it\u2019s him. Because he\u2019s iconic. And the type of animal that he was, it seems inconceivable that he would have a child with someone we don\u2019t know about.\u201d<\/p>\n

Dobson suggested it might be \u201cfake news\u201d, stating: \u201cIf he does have one where is she \u2013 step forward.\u201d<\/p>\n

The alleged child, now 48, has worked with rock biographer Lesley-Ann Jones for the new book, which will be published in September.<\/p>\n

The woman, known only as B, claimed she and Mercury had a close relationship \u201cfrom the moment I was born and throughout the final 15 years of his life\u201d.<\/p>\n

Mercury is said to have given her 17 volumes of detailed personal journals, which she kept a secret until recently sharing their contents with Jones.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe adored me and was devoted to me,\u201d one passage of the biography reads. \u201cThe circumstances of my birth may seem, by most people\u2019s standards, unusual and even outrageous.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat should come as no surprise. It never detracted from his commitment to love and look after me. He cherished me like a treasured possession.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jones told the Mail her \u201cinstinct was to doubt everything\u201d, but added: \u201cI am absolutely sure she is not a fantasist. No one could have faked all this. Why would she have worked with me for three and a half years, never demanding anything?\u201d<\/p>\n

She continued: \u201cIn my experience of fantasists, and I\u2019ve met a few, they seek instant gratification, publicity and reward. She has never asked for money. She does not want recognition.<\/p>\n

\u201cBoth Freddie and her stepfather left her extremely wealthy. She was not provided for through Freddie\u2019s will, but by a private, legal arrangement, so no one will find her mentioned there.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mercury apparently started writing the diaries on 20 June 1976 when he first learned about the pregnancy, two days after Queen released their single \u201cYou\u2019re My Best Friend\u201d, from their 1975 album A Night at the Opera.<\/a><\/p>\n

The final entry was on 31 July 1991, when his health was deteriorating. Mercury died on 24 November that year, aged 45, of bronchial pneumonia caused by Aids<\/a>.<\/p>\n

B said she had chosen to share Mercury\u2019s journals \u201cafter more than three decades of lies, speculation and distortion\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cThose who have been aware of my existence kept his greatest secret out of loyalty to Freddie,\u201d she wrote in a letter included in the book.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat I chose to reveal myself in my own midlife is my decision and mine alone. I have not, at any point, been coerced into doing this.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe entrusted his collection of private notebooks to me, his only child and his next of kin, the written record of his private thoughts, memories and feelings about everything he had experienced.\u201d<\/p>\n
