A new sleeper train<\/a> is set to connect five European countries<\/a> in one route for the first time in history, spanning an impressive 745 miles \u2014 and it launches today.<\/p>\n Starting in the Polish<\/a> capital of Warsaw<\/a>, the new link will run all the way to Rijeka, a Croatian<\/a> coastal city known for glistening beaches<\/a>, waterfalls, and 13th-century castles.<\/p>\n It will pass through multiple cities along the way, including Opoczno, Katowice, Rybnik, Cha\u0142upki, Vienna, Ljubljana, Postojna, and Opatija.<\/p>\n As it stands, train passengers travelling from Warsaw to Rijeka can\u2019t travel directly; instead, they must swap services three times (in Breclav, Graz, and Zagreb), an irritating journey that can end up taking more than 30 hours.<\/p>\n It might still take 19 hours from door to door, rolling out of Warsaw at 2pm and calling at Rijeka\u00a0at 9am the next day, but the new PKP Intercity\u00a0service will shorten the journey drastically, shaving off more than a third of the current travel time.<\/p>\n \t\t \t\t\t\tSign up to The Getaway newsletter\t\t\t<\/p>\n Fuel your wanderlust with our curated newsletter of travel deals, guides and inspiration.\u00a0Sign up here<\/a>.<\/p>\n How much will the Warsaw-Rijeka sleeper train cost? And how often will it run?<\/p>\n Tickets are affordable, with prices starting around 200 Polish z\u0142oty (\u00a339.53).<\/p>\n Interested? Services will run four times a week during the summer months, operating on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays.<\/p>\n The first is scheduled to leave Warsaw today, Friday, June 27. <\/p>\n The final routes will run at the end of August, leaving Warsaw on August 29 and Rijeka\u00a0on August 31.<\/p>\n \t\t The path is packed with breathtaking scenery, passing through the diverse landscapes of Poland, Czechia<\/a>, Austria<\/a>, Slovenia<\/a>, and Croatia.<\/p>\n Though it doesn\u2019t stop at any Czech destinations along the way, it does stop at Vienna at roughly 10pm, where a few carriages will diverge and head off directly to Croatia<\/a> on a different route.<\/p>\n Reaching Slovenia just after midnight, the train will partner up with the Istria service \u2013 which starts in Budapest<\/a> \u2013 and plod on towards Croatia just in time for breakfast.<\/p>\n \t\t \t\t\t\tAll the stops on the Warsaw-Rijeka sleeper train\t\t\t<\/p>\n Warsaw, Poland<\/p>\n Opoczno, Poland<\/p>\n Katowice, Poland<\/p>\n Rybnik, Poland<\/p>\n Cha\u0142upki, Poland<\/p>\n Vienna, Austria<\/p>\n Ljubljana, Slovenia<\/p>\n Postojna, Slovenia<\/p>\n Opatija, Croatia<\/p>\n Rijeka, Croatia.<\/p>\n What facilities will be on offer on the Warsaw-Rijeka sleeper train?<\/p>\n Passengers will travel in style, as the carriages are fully air-conditioned, with couchette cars available with beds. Sheets will be provided; no need to pack a sleeping bag.<\/p>\n A dining car will serve up hot food between Warsaw and Vienna, while passengers living it up in the couchette cars will have a staff member on hand to assist them throughout their voyage.<\/p>\n \t\t\t\tLatest train news\t\t\t<\/p>\n This isn\u2019t the only new train journey<\/a> on the block.
