Parts of the north could be impacted by local flooding<\/a> with a yellow warning for rain <\/a>issued for Wednesday.<\/p>\n

The Met Office<\/a> warning will be in place from 2am until 9pm, with areas in the east mostly impacted.<\/p>\n

It comes after the recent spell of dry and sunny weather, with temperatures last week reaching above 20 degrees for the first time this year.<\/a><\/p>\n

It was the earliest temperatures had been recorded above the 20-degree mark since 2012.<\/p>\n

The dry spell made conditions more difficult for firefighters<\/a> across the north as they battled a number of gorse fires in recent weeks.<\/p>\n

However, temperatures have dropped as the area of high pressure shifted away over the weekend.<\/p>\n

The Met Office has advised that persistent and, at times, heavy rain on Wednesday could cause some travel disruption and potential for local flooding.<\/p>\n

\u201cRain will develop through the early hours of Wednesday, heavy at times, and lasting for much of the day,\u201d a spokesperson said.<\/p>\n

\u201cMost areas within the warning will see 20-30 mm of rain, but a few spots could see 50-60 mm particularly over the high ground of Antrim and Down.<\/p>\n

\u201cRain will ease from the west Wednesday evening.\u201d<\/p>\n

The warning is in place for counties Antrim, Armagh and Down as well as parts of Derry and Tyrone.<\/p>\n
