The Duchess of Gloucester<\/a> will be heading to Wimbledon on day eight of the tournament<\/a>, as well as for the semi-finals on July 11. The 79-year-old, who will sit in the royal box, is Honorary President of the Lawn Tennis Association.<\/p>\n

As well as her appearance on day eight of the tournament and July 11, the royal could also make an appearance at the President’s Lunch in week one of Wimbledon. The royal – who is married to the late Queen Elizabeth II’s cousin Prince Richard – carries out full-time working duties and supports a number of her own patronages and organisations. Although she is not a royal by blood, the Duchess of Gloucester – who has been previously dubbed the King’s ‘secret weapon’<\/a> – made history last year when she was made a Royal Lady of the Garter.<\/p>\n

As well as being a regular attendee at the tennis championship, the Duchess of Gloucester is no stranger to also appearing on the courts.<\/p>\n

The royal presented crystal plates to 59 of Wimbledon’s past and present champions on Centre Court to commemorate the Millennium Championships in 1999.<\/p>\n

She also showed off her tennis skills during a visit to the AEGON Classic Tennis Tournament at Edgbaston Priory Club in Birmingham in 2013.<\/p>\n
