Armed police swarmed a city centre street after three men were spotted with a ‘gun’. Merseyside Police were called to Hope Street at around 3pm on Friday, June 27.<\/p>\n
Three men were found inside a property and arrested on suspicion of firearms offences. What appeared to be an imitation firearm was also seized near to the scene, police said. Chief Inspector Tom Welch said: \u201cOur response shows how seriously we take reports involving possible firearms and thankfully we were able to detain three men soon after the incident was reported to us.<\/p>\n
\u201cAlthough this appears to be an incident involving an imitation firearm, to the untrained eye it could have easily appeared to be real and capable of causing a huge amount of fear.<\/p>\n
\u201cThese three men will now be questioned about the incident and enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of what happened.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s vital that members of the public come forward with information so we can make our communities safer for the decent, law-abiding people who live in areas affected by crime.<\/p>\n
