Habib Diarra has been on Leeds United\u2019s radar for several weeks as they eye midfield additions.<\/strong><\/p>\n Jaka Bijol is the latest arrival at Leeds United<\/a>, though that isn\u2019t expected to be the case for long, with the Whites working on deals for several new players.<\/p>\n One of the players they had been linked with was Strasbourg\u2019s Diarra<\/a>, and they were even reported to have made a bid for the 21-year-old.<\/p>\n However, news broke overnight that the Senegal international had agreed on a move to Sunderland<\/a>, though that didn\u2019t mark the end of Leeds\u2019 interest.<\/p>\n Sunderland have now arranged for Diarra to undergo a medical<\/a> at the Stadium of Light, before putting pen to paper on a deal worth around \u00a330million.<\/p>\n Leeds\u2019 initial bid was believed to be less than \u00a320m, but according to Ed Aarons via X, the Whites then upped their bid to match that of the Black Cats, but Diarra preferred the move elsewhere.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n Diarra thrived in Ligue 1 and could replicate that in the Premier League.<\/p>\n The 11-cap Senegal international also had interest from Bundesliga outfit Frankfurt, as well as Serie A giants AC Milan, but has opted for a move to Wearside.<\/p>\n After courting him for the majority of June, Leeds<\/a> may wish they had pursued a deal earlier, having now looked as though they have missed out on what would have been a marquee signing for Daniel Farke.<\/p>\n As reported elsewhere, Sunderland are set to sign Senegal’s Habib Diarra from Strasbourg for a club record \u00a330m. Understand that Leeds offered to match their bid but player preferred to move to Stadium of Light.
