The turmoil at Sheffield Wednesday has taken another shocking turn following a further breach of the EFL\u2019s regulations.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Sheffield Wednesday<\/a> have been the talk of the Championship<\/a> so far this summer ahead of the 2025\/26 season, but for all the wrong reasons.<\/p>\n

Financial turmoil has seen Wednesday owner Dejphon Chansiri<\/a> fail to pay players for May, at the same time, some non-playing Owls staff had to take up emergency funding<\/a> to make ends meet.<\/p>\n

In consequence of the Owls\u2019 issues, the EFL placed a three-window transfer ban on Sheffield Wednesday<\/a>, meaning the club cannot pay transfer or loan fees during the ongoing summer transfer window<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Now, the situation has taken another turn for the worse, with Sheffield Wednesday now placed under a double EFL embargo.<\/p>\n

Sheffield Wednesday were placed under embargo<\/a> by the EFL earlier this month, under an embargo regarding \u2018Regulation 54.1 \u2013 Non-payment to Players\u2019, which led to the transfer window punishment.<\/p>\n

Earlier this week, the Owls\u2019 pre-season preparations were left in chaos<\/a>, with news that the club\u2019s training ground is not ready for pre-season.<\/p>\n

With turmoil affecting almost every department at the club, Sheffield Wednesday have now had another embargo lodged against them, concerning HMRC reporting, labelled as \u2018Regulation 17.3 \u2013 HMRC reporting\u2019 on the EFL website\u2019s Championship embargos<\/a> section.<\/p>\n

The news reported by the Sheffield Star<\/a> means that Sheffield Wednesday must \u201csettle up with the Owls squad, as well as HMRC, before the embargo is lifted\u201d.<\/p>\n

As well as this, Sheffield Star reporter Alex Miller explained on X that \u201cnon-football staff at Sheffield Wednesday have been given advance warning from the club that the payment of their June wages on Monday is uncertain.\u201d<\/p>\n

The news of embargo and uncertainty over staff wages is just the latest in a summer of hammer blows for Sheffield Wednesday.<\/p>\n
