Lyon are in desperate need of a cash injection as Tottenham eye a move for Georges Mikautadze.<\/strong><\/p>\n Tottenham<\/a> have made a slow start to the summer transfer window.<\/p>\n However, the Lilywhites could be close to their first signing as they have reportedly agreed a deal for Japanese defender K\u014dta Takai<\/a> and are now looking at Mikautadze. <\/p>\n The Georgian striker scored 17 goals for Lyon last season and could even challenge Dominic Solanke<\/a> with his impressive output. Now, Mikautadze\u2019s performances seem to have been enough to convince Tottenham to make an offer. <\/p>\n Daniel Levy<\/a> is prepared to take full advantage of Lyon\u2019s financial struggles, which saw the French outfit relegated to Ligue 2 on Tuesday (24 June). <\/p>\n As reported by Tutto Juve<\/a>\u00a0(26 June), Tottenham are currently leading the race<\/a> to sign Mikautadze. It is understood that the Lilywhites are preparing an offer, with Juventus also keen to sign the 24-year-old.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n Richarlison and Mikautadze in all competitions (2024\/25)<\/p>\n However, Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham \u2013 speaking exclusively to\u00a0Tottenham News\u00a0\u2013 doesn\u2019t believe Spurs will move for Mikautadze anytime soon, and expects Lyon to agree to sell another player to alleviate their financial concerns.<\/p>\n \u201cThis is an interesting market opportunity,\u201d\u00a0Wenham said.<\/p>\n \u201cHowever, Lyon are far too big a club to be relegated for some outstanding financial issues.<\/p>\n \u201cTherefore, I\u2019m sure they\u2019ll flog someone to Chelsea or whoever for \u00a345million, and their issues will be fixed quite swiftly. However, as I said, this is an interesting market opportunity, and I\u2019m sure lots of big clubs are looking.<\/p>\n \u201cLyon are a hotbed for talented young players. However, we have made some poor signings from them in recent years, and I\u2019m sure Tottenham won\u2019t want to get stung again.<\/p>\n \u201cTherefore, I imagine we\u2019re looking, but I don\u2019t think it is someone we will move for imminently.\u201d<\/p>\n Richarlison is expected to leave Tottenham<\/a> this summer, and Mikautadze would be the perfect replacement.<\/p>\n Not only is he efficient in front of goal, but injuries will be less of a concern.
