One man has been arrested after ‘suspicious items’ were found at a block of flats in south Manchester this morning.<\/p>\n
Police were called to Capitol Court on School Lane at around 10am on Saturday (June 28), according to nearby residents. The block was evacuated after officers located ‘several bags containing substances’ which were seized.<\/p>\n
The force said a scene remains in place into the evening as forensic detectives continue to search the property. A 32-year-old man has been arrested pending an assessment into the contents of the items discovered and remains in police custody.<\/p>\n
Join the Manchester Evening News WhatsApp group HERE<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n They added flats had been evacuated ‘as a precaution’ and there was believed to be ‘no wider risk to the public’.<\/p>\n Witnesses reported seeing a number of police vans on School Lane on Saturday morning, with CSI officers carrying items out of the flats in clear bags.<\/p>\n “We\u2019re making enquiries at a property on School Lane in Didsbury<\/a> after a call about suspicious items at the property,” Greater Manchester Police<\/a> said in a statement.<\/p>\n \u201cOfficers in attendance have located several bags containing substances which have been seized.<\/p>\n \u201cAs a precaution, nearby occupants have left their properties temporarily. There is no wider threat to the public.<\/p>\n \u201cA 32-year-old man has been arrested pending an assessment into the contents of the items discovered.
