Two Waterford facilities have received 100 per cent compliance in the annual Mental Health Commission report.<\/p>\n
Waterford Minister for Mental Health Mary Butler has praised the local facilities which obtained the status in the annual Mental Health Commission report published this week.<\/p>\n
Speaking to WLR News, Minister Butler said: “Six facilities across the country received one hundred per cent compliance and I’m delighted two of them are in Waterford. These are St Aidan’s in Waterford Residential Care Centre, where there are 20 beds for people with enduring mental health conditions, and also Grangemore in St Otteran’s which received\u00a0 one hundred per cent compliance. I want to pay tribute to staff in all these facilities who look after the residents so well.”<\/p>\n
Minister Butler said the report represents a \u201csignificant step\u201d to enhance the quality and safety of mental health services.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhile it rightly highlights areas requiring further attention in a small number of approved centres, I am encouraged by the positive developments described in the report,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn particular, the continued adoption of human rights-based approaches and the implementation of innovative practices in many HSE centres are welcome.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is also encouraging to see that in 2024, the number of children admitted to adult units fell to its lowest level on record and we saw a further decrease in episodes of seclusion and restraint.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is a clear indication that our policies are working.\u201d<\/p>\n
