{"id":222261,"date":"2025-06-28T21:00:23","date_gmt":"2025-06-28T21:00:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/222261\/"},"modified":"2025-06-28T21:00:23","modified_gmt":"2025-06-28T21:00:23","slug":"dramatic-glastonbury-headliner-u-turn-as-bbc-makes-statement","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/222261\/","title":{"rendered":"Dramatic Glastonbury headliner U-turn as BBC makes statement"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Fans were devastated when they thought Neil Young wouldn&#8217;t be on TV<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/1_Light-Up-The-Blues-7-Concert-Celebrating-Autism-Speaks-20th-Anniversary.jpg\" alt=\"Neil Young's performance won't air on the BBC this weekend\" loading=\"eager\"  \/>(Image: Getty Images)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Legendary headliner Neil Young&#8217;s set will be shown live on BBC after a last minute U-turn.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">It had previously said the Canadian rock veteran\u2019s Glastonbury set would not be broadcast live \u201cat the artist\u2019s request\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">A BBC spokesperson said: \u201cWe are delighted to confirm that Neil Young\u2019s headline set from Glastonbury on Saturday will be broadcast live to audiences across the UK on the BBC.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Young\u2019s set will be shown on the BBC iPlayer Pyramid Stage stream from 10pm, as well as broadcast on BBC Two and BBC Radio 2.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The 79-year-old will be part of the five-day celebration of performing arts and music with his band the Chrome Hearts.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Earlier in the year the singer, who began his career in the 1960s with the band Buffalo Springfield, said he had initially turned down the offer to perform at the festival, saying it was \u201cunder corporate control\u201d of the BBC in a message on his website.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">But he then backtracked and was announced as one of the headliners, saying he had \u201calways loved\u201d the event and he was looking forward to performing.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Playing around the same time as Young on Saturday night is Brat star Charli XCX, who will grace the Other Stage, and US rapper Doechii, who will perform on the West Holts Stage.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/0_Glastonbury-Festival-2024-Day-Five.jpg\" alt=\"GLASTONBURY, ENGLAND - JUNE 30: People gather in front of the main Pyramid Stage during day five of Glastonbury Festival 2024 at Worthy Farm, Pilton on June 30, 2024 in Glastonbury, England.
