Originally, she told Vogue\u2019s Chloe Malle that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vogue.com\/article\/lauren-sanchez-and-jeff-bezos-are-married\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">she had visions of a strapless dress<\/a>. But after going on a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vogue.com\/article\/blue-origin-all-female-space-flight-lauren-sanchez-explainer\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Blue Origin space flight<\/a> to the K\u00e1rman line, both her perspective about her life\u2014and style\u2014shifted. \u201cIt went from \u2018I want a simple, sexy modern dress\u2019 to \u2018I want something that evokes a moment,\u2019 and where I am right now. I am a different person than I was five years ago,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>So, she researched pictures of brides from the 1950s. One in particular stuck with her: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vogue.com\/article\/sophia-loren-film-at-lincoln-center-retrospective-interview-exclusive\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sophia Loren<\/a>\u2019s wedding dress from the 1958 movie Houseboat. \u201cI said, \u2018That\u2019s it. That\u2019s the dress.\u2019\u201d After several conversations with Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana, Dolce &amp; Gabbana made her a high lace neck mermaid-line gown with 180 hand-finished, silk chiffon-covered buttons that took over 1900 hours to make. \u201cThe whole thing was like a dream,\u201d S\u00e1nchez says.<\/p>\n<p>Loren\u2019s original\u2014and fictional\u2014dress was made by legendary costume designer Edith Head, who received eight Academy Awards (as well as a total of 35 nominations) and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for her work with Paramount Pictures and Universal Pictures. In April, S\u00e1nchez attended the 2025 Breakthrough Prize in a 1994 John Galliano dress once worn by the Fellini muse.
