Bristol City fans will have to wait a little bit longer to be sure of when exactly their fixtures for the 2025\/26 Championship campaign will be played as Sky Sports have until July 3 to confirm their first set of televised matches.<\/p>\n
Gerhard Struber’s side learned their schedule for the upcoming campaign on Thursday, with a repeat of last season’s play-off semi-final kicking things off for the Reds as they travel to Bramall Lane to face Sheffield United<\/a> on Saturday, August 9.<\/p>\n Every game of the opening weekend will be live on Sky Sports, whether it be on one of the broadcaster’s main channels of Sky Sports +. City’s showdown with the Blades is set to be on Sky Sports Football when it kicks off at the later time of 5:30pm<\/a>.<\/p>\n READ MORE: Gerhard Struber sheds light on early pre-season goals as Bristol City squad return for testing<\/a>READ MORE: Bristol City’s Championship rivals set to add former Robins boss to new-look coaching staff<\/a><\/p>\n After confirming the schedule for the season, the EFL announced that Sky will have until Thursday, July 3 to make their selections for any matches they wish to broadcast up until the end of September. This means supporters will know by the end of next week if any of the Reds’ games against Charlton Athletic, Derby County<\/a>, Hull City, Sheffield Wednesday, Oxford United, Preston North End or Ipswich Town will be moved from their original kick-off time.<\/p>\n Similarly, by Thursday, July 31 selections will be announced for all matches due to be played prior to the third round of the FA Cup<\/a>, which will be played in the second week of January 2026.<\/p>\n By Friday, November 7, Sky will confirm their selections with respect to matches played between the end of the FA Cup third round weekend and the final weekend of February. Currently, the Reds are due to play Oxford United, Ipswich Town, Sheffield Wednesday<\/a>, Derby County, Hull City, Wrexham, Swansea City, Blackburn Rovers and Watford in that block of games.<\/p>\n The aim of this schedule is to give both clubs and supporters up to five months’ notice of changes to their fixtures with the hope of ensuring fans have plenty of time to make travel and hotel arrangements.<\/p>\n From the end of February on, however, the notice period becomes shorter. The broadcaster’s selections from the first weekend in March will be announced on a four-week rolling basis from February onwards. Such a change was made to the Reds’ schedule late on last term when Liam Manning’s side’s trip to Elland Road was pushed back<\/a> to an 8:00pm kick-off on Monday, April 28 having originally been arranged for Saturday, April 26.<\/p>\n As has become a regular occurrence in recent years, all Championship matches played on the final day of the regular season will kick off at 12:30pm on Saturday, May 2. That date and time will not change but should the Robins’ meeting with Stoke City<\/a> be picked by Sky, supporters will know the week prior.<\/p>\n The Robins had several games moved for broadcast last season in what was the first year of the new deal between EFL clubs and Sky Sports.
