Harvey Elliott surpassed two England internationals with a huge goal in their European Under-21 Championship final<\/strong> win.<\/p>\n

The Liverpool<\/a> star opened the scoring with just five minutes on the clock in the 3-2 extra-time victory against Germany.<\/p>\n

Elliott<\/a> was on an excellent run of form during the tournament and extended his goal tally in Slovakia to five.<\/p>\n

But his latest strike also saw him outdo two former Young Lions<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Now on 14 goals for the England U21s, he has overtaken Alan Shearer<\/a> and Francis Jeffers to go second in the all-time rankings.<\/p>\n

The respective ex-Newcastle and ex-Arsenal<\/a> stars netted 13 times each in their youth days before promotion to the senior side.<\/p>\n

Only Eddie Nketiah<\/a> has scored more than Elliott with 16 goals in 17 appearances from 2018 to 2021.<\/p>\n

Elliott has also become the second England<\/a> player to score five times at the U21 Championships after Mark Hateley in 1984, who netted six.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, his 11 total appearances is more than any Three Lions star at any level.<\/p>\n

England’s night got even better shortly before the half-hour mark as Omari Hutchinson fired in through the legs of Atubolu to make it 2-0.<\/p>\n

However, Germany pulled one back just before half-time courtesy of Nelson Weiper before Paul Nebel made it 2-2.<\/p>\n

Jonathan Rowe came off the bench to restore the lead for England with a glancing header at the beginning of extra-time.<\/p>\n

At full-time, Lee Carsley’s side celebrated their second consecutive U21 Euros title.<\/p>\n

England last won back-to-back tournaments in 1982 and 1984 against West Germany and Spain respectively.<\/p>\n

They have gone third in the all-time winners’ chart behind Spain and Italy, who are both on five titles.<\/p>\n
