Women’s groups are furious that convicted domestic abuser Chris Brown<\/a> will play Hampden \u2013 while Irish rappers Kneecap were axed from TRNSMT.<\/p>\n R\u2019n\u2019B star Brown, 36, will perform to thousands of fans at Scotland\u2019s national stadium<\/a> on Tuesday despite his history of assault and domestic violence.<\/p>\n In 2009, Brown was sentenced to five years probation and community service for attacking ex Rihanna<\/a>. The Bajan star was pictured with a split lip after Brown hit her.<\/p>\n Critics including domestic abuse<\/a> charities accused promoters DF Concerts of \u201cdouble standards\u201d \u2013 after the same organisers dropped Kneecap from TRNSMT<\/a> over a political spat.<\/p>\n The move came after calls by John Swinney to axe the Irish hip hop act<\/a>, with the First Minister saying the political rhetoric \u201ccrossed the line\u201d.<\/p>\n Kneecap band member Mo Chara was charged with a terror<\/a> offence over allegedly displaying a Hezbollah flag at a gig in London last November.<\/p>\n Jenni Snell, CEO of Scotland\u2019s Young Women\u2019s Movement, said: \u201cIt is deeply disappointing that performers with histories of violence against women<\/a> are able to play major, national venues like Hampden Park.<\/p>\n \u201cWith the recent context of Kneecap being dropped by TRNSMT following controversy sparked by a political campaign against them, we are forced to question why a known domestic abuser playing a major Glasgow<\/a> venue has not generated any controversy whatsoever.<\/p>\n \u201cWhen you consider TRNSMT<\/a> and Chris Brown\u2019s UK tour are run by the same promoter, it\u2019s only right these double standards are scrutinised.\u201d<\/p>\n Scots promoter DF Concerts \u2013behind next month\u2019s TRNSMT festival in Glasgow Green \u2013 is a subsidiary of Live Nation which is organising Brown\u2019s tour. The singer has been able to continue performing despite appearing in court this month over an alleged bottle attack against a man at a London nightclub in 2023.<\/a><\/p>\n Brown has pleaded not guilty and was freed on conditional bail.<\/p>\n Domestic abuse charity Glasgow Women\u2019s<\/a> Aid accused the entertainment industry of repeatedly \u201cturning a blind eye\u201d to violence against women.<\/p>\n The group said: \u201cKneecap were recently removed from a UK festival line-up because of political views. They were deemed too controversial and dropped from the bill.
