{"id":223191,"date":"2025-06-29T05:29:24","date_gmt":"2025-06-29T05:29:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/223191\/"},"modified":"2025-06-29T05:29:24","modified_gmt":"2025-06-29T05:29:24","slug":"george-williams-speaks-about-his-warrington-wolves-future","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/223191\/","title":{"rendered":"George Williams speaks about his Warrington Wolves future"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n  Reports during the week have suggested Williams has informed The Wire of his desire to return to the NRL, with the Dolphins reportedly leading the chase for his signature.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The club captain is contracted to the club until the end of next year and the reports have suggested he is unwilling to extend that deal, prompting talk Warrington may choose to cash in on the England skipper at the end of this season.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  After confirming he would \u201c100 per cent\u201d remain at the club until at least the end of 2025, however, Williams admits things beyond then remain up in the air.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  \u201cI\u2019m not too sure,\u201d he said when asked by Sky Sports about whether he would be at The Halliwell Jones Stadium for 2026 having been named player of the match in the crucial victory over Hull FC.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  \u201cI\u2019m committed to the team \u2013 I love the team, I\u2019m captain of the team and nobody can doubt my commitment, but there\u2019s a lot of logistics to go yet. I\u2019m committed to Warrington.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Williams did not deny there had been interest from Australia in his services and admitted he was \u201copen-minded\u201d about where his future lies.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  He insisted, however, that any discussions on the subject with his current club have been \u201chonest\u201d and \u201crespectful.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  \u201cI\u2019ve spoken to the club and there\u2019s been a lot of talk throughout the week,\u201d he said.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  \u201cThere\u2019s nothing major to it \u2013 there\u2019s a little bit of interest and I\u2019d be stupid not to listen to it at my age. I\u2019m 30 now so it\u2019s now or never.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  \u201cIt\u2019s something I\u2019ve got to think about \u2013 whether it\u2019s an itch I want to scratch.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  \u201cWarrington have been brilliant \u2013 I\u2019ve been respectful to them, told them my honest thoughts and what will be, will be.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  \u201cThere\u2019s a lot of logistics around it but the minute, I\u2019m open-minded.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Head coach Sam Burgess also insisted his captain was &#8220;extremely committed&#8221; to Warrington for however long he remains at the club.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  \u201cThere\u2019s a lot of speculation around George at the moment, but one thing I can say about George is that he\u2019s extremely committed,\u201d he told Sky Sports ahead of this afternoon\u2019s game.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  \u201cHe\u2019s our captain here and he\u2019s just been a wonderful bloke to have around.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  \u201cEverything that\u2019s going on in the background, we\u2019ll just leave that alone.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  \u201cHe\u2019s trying to get his best performance on the field and get our team moving forward.
