Even on that final day, the way that we managed the team and the way that the team behaved, it was top. It was knowing exactly what to do every single moment, just to get the target on our side.

“I was surprised (about leaving), but, as I always say, there are non-controllables in your life that you have nothing to say sometimes, and that was the case, so the club decided to move forward and then try to find a new manager. We accepted that and tried to move forward.”

Sheffield United’s new manager will be looking to hit the ground running

Selles has perhaps not had the most glittering start to life in management in England, having taken charge of a struggling Southampton side, a Reading team that were facing financial issues and then joining Hull while they were towards the bottom of the Championship.

However, he has now taken over a club who are coming off the back of play-off heartbreak and expectations will be for the Blades to be pushing for a top two spot in the new campaign.

Selles shored up Hull defensively during his short time in Humberside and this will go a long way at Sheffield United as they look to get over the disappointment of Wembley in May.

It’s been just under two months since Hull City decided to sack Ruben Selles, and plenty has changed…

[8817
748,393,4884,35553,87244,1620,4239,16,15
0":"post-223428","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-sheffield","8":"tag-britain","9":"tag-england","10":"tag-great-britain","11":"tag-hull-city","12":"tag-ruben-selles","13":"tag-sheffield","14":"tag-sheffield-united","15":"tag-uk","16":"tag-united-kingdom
["GET
