Richhill<\/a> photographer has spoken of her \u201chonour\u201d after being named as President of the Professional Photographers Association of Northern Ireland.<\/p>\nAfter departing from her career in real estate in 2012, Melissa Wright has forged for herself a highly successful career in photography.<\/p>\n
With a little encouragement from friends, what started as an amateur hobby for the largely self-taught snapper soon became her full time, professional career with job bookings flying in for family shoots and weddings.<\/p>\n
Prior to stepping into her new role as President of the Professional Photographers Association of Northern Ireland, Melissa has long been a proud member of the organisation and has for the last year held the position of Vice President.<\/p>\n
Speaking to Armagh I previously, Melissa explained of the organisation: \u201cTo become a member, you need to submit a panel of photos to expert judges within your first year, and they give you your qualification.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s a way of ensuring professionalism in a field that\u2019s not regulated. With so many mirrorless cameras out there, people think it\u2019s an easy job, but you need to know your settings, your business side, and how to handle the pressure of a wedding day. That\u2019s why I really push for the Professional Photographers Association.\u201d<\/p>\n
With the official announcement of her Presidency on Tuesday (June 24), Melissa said: \u201cToday I officially stepped into the role of President of the Professional Photographers Association of Northern Ireland and I honestly could not be more honoured.<\/p>\n
\u201cTo be trusted with this position by a community I care so deeply about means the world to me.<\/p>\n
\u201cOver the next two years I will do my very best to serve support and celebrate the incredible talent we have here in Northern Ireland. Our community is something truly special and it is a privilege to be part of it.<\/p>\n
\u201cEven after 13 years in the industry my love for photography has not faded. If anything it has grown stronger, fuelled by the connections friendships and inspiration that come from being surrounded by such passionate creatives.<\/p>\n
\u201cHere is to the next chapter. I am so excited for what lies ahead.\u201d<\/p>\n
