Liverpool could provide rivals Chelsea with a financial boost with their next incoming transfer. The Reds have been heavily linked with a move for Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi.<\/p>\n
The England international is reportedly expected to leave Palace this summer, instead of leaving in a year\u2019s time at the end of his contract. As reported by the ECHO<\/a>, there is genuine interest from Liverpool in the centre-back.<\/p>\n The Mirror<\/a> now report that the Reds are in prime position to sign Guehi this summer with talks over a potential move taking place over the weekend. It is said that a fee in excess of \u00a340 million is seen as a more realistic deal.<\/p>\n It is added that Chelsea, who sold Guehi to Palace in 2021 for a fee of \u00a318 million, have a 20 percent sell-on clause. Therefore any money that Liverpool give Palace for the defender will also see a proportion of it go to Chelsea.<\/p>\n A \u00a340 million fee paid by Liverpool would see Chelsea earn \u00a38 million from the deal due to the sell-on clause. That financial boost could potentially then be reinvested back into transfers by the Blues.<\/p>\n Guehi came up through the academy teams at Stamford Bridge but made just two first team appearances for Chelsea.<\/p>\n He spent 18-months on loan with Championship side Swansea City before making to move to Crystal Palace.<\/p>\n During his time at Selhurst Park, he has established himself as one of the best young English defenders in the Premier League<\/a>.<\/p>\n He has played 155 times for the club and helped them to lift the FA Cup<\/a> for the first time in their history last month.<\/p>\n Liverpool retain an interest in Guehi but would need the Londoners to lower their asking for their captain, with the England international inside the final 12 months of his deal at Selhurst Park.<\/p>\n The Reds are continuing to assess the merits of the younger centre-back market as they search for a Jarrell Quansah replacement.<\/p>\n
