Wes Streeting <\/a>has launched an outspoken attack on Israel after embassy in the UK condemned Bob Vylan\u2019s performance at Glastonbury.<\/a><\/p>\n

The rap duo led the crowd <\/a>in chants of \u201cdeath to the IDF (Israel Defence Force)\u201d on Saturday afternoon during a performance that was streamed live on BBC iPlayer.<\/p>\n

Avon and Somerset Police have launched an investigation into the performances of Bob Vylan, and Irish rappers Kneecap, to see \u201cwhether any offences may have been committed that would require a criminal investigation\u201d.<\/p>\n

In a post on X, the Israeli embassy in the UK said it was \u201cdeeply disturbed by the inflammatory and hateful rhetoric expressed on stage at the Glastonbury Festival\u201d.<\/p>\n

They added: \u201cFreedom of expression is a cornerstone of democracy. But when speech crosses into incitement, hatred, and advocacy of ethnic cleansing, it must be called out\u2014especially when amplified by public figures on prominent platforms.\u201d<\/p>\n

But on Sky News <\/a>on Sunday, Streeting hit back at the embassy, accusing Israel of turning a blind eye to violence against non-Jews in the West Bank.<\/p>\n

He said: \u201cI\u2019d say to the Israeli Embassy get your own house in order in terms of the conduct of your own citizens and the settlers in the West Bank.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think there\u2019s a serious point there by the Israeli Embassy I take seriously. I wish they take the violence of their own citizens towards Palestinians more seriously.\u201d<\/p>\n

Presenter Trevor Phillips<\/a> said: \u201cGet your own house in order? That\u2019s pretty tough language.\u201d<\/p>\n

But Streeting replied: \u201cWell, when I saw the scenes of the village of Taybeh set on fire this week, one of many examples of settler violence where the Israeli authorities look the other way, I do think that\u2019s serious.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen we look at how Israel\u2019s conducting its war in Gaza, I think it\u2019s completely unjustifiable.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe all condemned, and continue to condemn, what happened on October 7. We all want to see the return of the hostages, and there\u2019s no justification for inciting violence against Israelis, but the way in which Israel is conducting this war has made it extremely difficult for Israel\u2019s allies around the world to stand by and justify.\u201d<\/p>\n
