Meghan Markle spoke about the miscarriage she suffered in 2020 on her new podcast<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Duchess of Sussex, 43, brought up her pregnancy loss after guest Reshma Saujani opened up about the challenges she\u2019s faced working on Girls Who Code<\/a>, her nonprofit that promotes women working in computer science.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ll bring this up if you\u2019re comfortable talking about it because I know you\u2019ve spoken publicly about as you\u2019re doing Girls Who Code, all the interpersonal things that are happening for you at that time and the miscarriages that you\u2019ve experienced,\u201d Markle, 43, said on Tuesday\u2019s episode of \u201cConfessions of a Female Founder.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve spoken about the miscarriage that we experienced,\u201d Markle continued. \u201cI think in some parallel way, when you have to learn to detach from the thing that you have so much promise and hope for and to be able to be OK at a certain point to let something go, something go that you plan to love for a long time.\u201d<\/p>\n

Saujani, 49, told Markle her remark was \u201creally insightful\u201d and joked that the \u201cSuits\u201d alum was \u201creading my diaries.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t think anyone\u2019s seen it that way, like said it that way for me,\u201d Saujani shared. \u201cBut that\u2019s right.\u201d<\/p>\n

Markle suffered her miscarriage in July 2020, the year between welcoming son Prince Archie, 5, and daughter Princess Lilibet, 3.<\/p>\n

The duchess first revealed the experience in a 1,000-word personal essay published in the New York Times<\/a> in November 2020.<\/p>\n

\u201cLosing a child means carrying an almost unbearable grief, experienced by many but talked about by few,\u201d Markle wrote.<\/p>\n

She revealed that she suffered the miscarriage while she and Prince Harry were at their new $14 million mansion<\/a> in Montecito, California.<\/p>\n

\u201cAfter changing his [Archie\u2019s] diaper, I felt a sharp cramp. I dropped to the floor with him in my arms, humming a lullaby to keep us both calm, the cheerful tune a stark contrast to my sense that something was not right,\u201d Markle shared. \u201cI knew, as I clutched my firstborn child, that I was losing my second.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHours later, I lay in a hospital bed, holding my husband\u2019s hand. I felt the clamminess of his palm and kissed his knuckles, wet from both our tears. Staring at the cold white walls, my eyes glazed over. I tried to imagine how we\u2019d heal,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n

At the time of the miscarriage, Markle was suing the Daily Mail for publishing a private letter<\/a> she penned to her estranged father, Thomas Markle. Harry, 40, blamed the tabloid for Markle\u2019s miscarriage in their 2022 Netflix docuseries<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI believe my wife suffered a miscarriage because of what the\u00a0Mail\u00a0did. I watched the whole thing,\u201d the prince said.<\/p>\n

After commenting on her miscarriage on her podcast, Markle gushed to Saujani about motherhood.<\/p>\n

\u201cI love being a mom. Oh my gosh. I love being a mom so much.
