Birmingham City are hoping to seal a deal with Wolves for Tommy Doyle that will ultimately cost \u00a310 million, it is claimed.<\/p>\n
Doyle is apparently being lined up for a season on loan at St Andrew’s @ Knighthead Park<\/a> before an obligatory purchase next summer. Loans with purchase options have been used more frequently in recent years to help clubs navigate financial fair play cycles and when big bills are paid or received.<\/p>\n The 23-year-old midfielder has been linked with Sheffield United, where he previously spent time on loan, as well as Sunderland and Wrexham but it seems like Blues have surged to the front of the queue.<\/p>\n The Sun’s Alan Nixon<\/a> reports that Birmingham<\/a> are prepared to commit to making the move permanent for that set fee and price tag will be enough to “get the deal done”.<\/p>\n Doyle came through the ranks at Manchester City, the grandson of Man City greats Glyn Pardoe and Mike Doyle. He spent 2023\/24 on loan at Wolves, who triggered an option to make the deal permanent last year for a reported \u00a34m.<\/p>\n Chris Davies has been keen to sign a new midfielder to compete with first choice pairing Tomoki Iwata and Paik Seung-ho, who helped Blues run away with the League One title last season.<\/p>\n Transfer activity is heating up and James Beadle, Bright Osayi-Samuel and Demarai Gray<\/a> are in the headlines in the countdown to life back in the Championship.<\/p>\n What do you think?
