Transport for Wales (TfW) colleagues have raised over \u00a31,000 in support of Seren Dwt, their chosen charity. <\/p>\n
They raised the money through a static bike challenge, where they cycled over 220 miles, which is around the distance from Cardiff to Chester. <\/p>\n
An event on the 3rd June in Cardiff and another in Chester on the 5th June saw them exceed their original target of 198 miles. <\/p>\n
Those taking part had some friendly competition going on, encouraging them to cycle further, and some wore superhero costumes. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n
The chosen charity, Seren Dwt, is dedicated to supporting families who have a child born with an extra 21st chromosome (Trisomy 21 or Down Syndrome). <\/p>\n
They deliver \u2018welcome baby\u2019 boxes across Welsh health boards and fund speech and language resources. <\/p>\n
They support families and help them to feel connected from day one. <\/p>\n
This charity is Transport for Wales\u2019 chosen charity for the year, which means that the bike event won\u2019t be the end of the funding efforts. <\/p>\n
Staff will be taking part in further fundraising events throughout the year, including the launch of a Mark 4 carriage in a new livery, which will raise awareness of the charity. <\/p>\n
