It has watered down a ban on the sale of combustion engine vehicles by 2035. It has killed a law controlling pesticides. The list could go on.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the prospect of an attempt to regulate carbon pollution from agriculture \u2014 a major emitter \u2014 has faded.<\/p>\n<p>Frustration has been mounting among those political groups that want to preserve a full-bodied vision of the Green Deal. They argue that the climate, nature and corporate responsibility drives are all interlinked, and that companies and citizens need to be given a clear sense of direction.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the impacts of spiraling declines in biodiversity, natural habitats and the stability of the climate grow worse by the day.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/13099136-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6816933\"  \/>It has watered down a ban on the sale of combustion engine vehicles by 2035. | Filip Singer\/EPA<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll this demonization of the climate policies \u2026 creates a lot of uncertainty,\u201d said Vula Tsetsi, co-chair of the European Green Party. It is von der Leyen\u2019s role, she said, \u201cto defend what for her has been so important in the previous legislation, meaning the Green Deal. And she should not give up.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Last Friday, von der Leyen seemed to make her most dramatic concession yet to Weber\u2019s demands.
