Leeds United have, for the second year in a row, asked supporters not to travel to Germany when Daniel Farke takes the team there next month.<\/p>\n
The club has apologised to fans and pointed the finger at police and local authorities for denying them match permits in the past week.<\/p>\n
Last summer, after the strain of Euro 2024, Leeds were told German police could not stretch to support their friendlies in the country and ordered no fans be permitted. However, 12 months later, with no major tournament in the country, the outcome is the same.<\/p>\n
A club statement said: \u201cOpponents and venues for fixtures were arranged earlier this year, and written assurances secured from both the German FA and our tour operator as well, given last summer we were asked at short notice by the police and local authorities not to bring supporters due to a resource strain following UEFA Euro 2024.<\/p>\n
\u201cFrustratingly, despite having matches agreed for a number of months, we have in the last week been informed the police and local authorities will, once again, not grant a permit for us to play matches in front of spectators, will prohibit us from providing live updates and video streams, and have requested we discourage supporter travel.\u201d<\/p>\n
Leeds insist they have then tried to offer various assurances to the decision-makers, as well as sought alternative scenarios to permit fan attendance. Moving the camp elsewhere in Germany was considered, but the club say they had no joy because of how last-minute the changes were.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis result is deeply frustrating to all of us, just as it is sure to frustrate and anger you, our loyal supporters, to whom we apologise unreservedly for this outcome,\u201d the club said.<\/p>\n
Leeds United Supporters\u2019 Trust believe fans are being \u201cunduly excluded\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cFor the second consecutive season, Leeds United fans are being excluded from attending pre-season friendlies in Germany without any sensible explanation coming from authorities,\u201d a statement read.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is extremely disappointing, given the excuse last year was around post-Euros policing (despite other British clubs being allowed fans in attendance in Germany).<\/p>\n
\u201cWe respect the club and Daniel Farke\u2019s desire to keep a successful training camp in Germany, but would expect a valid reason from the authorities as to why once again Leeds United fans are being unduly excluded.<\/p>\n
\u201cLeeds United Supporters\u2019 Trust recognises the work by the club to secure high profile friendlies in Scandinavia and Ireland, giving back to the loyalty of fans who we know regularly travel.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe trust will reach out to the German authorities on behalf of our members and Leeds fans.\u201d<\/p>\n
