There are a ton of exciting horror<\/a> sequels releasing this summer. However, there’s none more explosive than M3GAN 2.0<\/strong><\/a>. The Blumhouse sci-fi horror comedy action hybrid is uploading to theaters this weekend. This beloved AI genre icon is ready for a dominant second act, but horror fans can already pre-order M3GAN 2.0 on chilling physical media<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

You can pre-order your copy of M3GAN 2.0 on DVD ($17.95 USD), Blu-ray ($22.95), and 4K ($27.95) thanks to Gruv<\/strong>. The latter of which also has a shiny new 4K\/Blu-ray\/Digital combo pack steelbook<\/a>. While the cover art for the slipcover editions hasn’t been revealed yet, the steelbook features the purple-centric silhouette teaser poster of this killer AI <\/strong>on the front. The back cover has M3GAN\u2019s new cute toy-like robot design while the inside artwork has the title anti-hero facing off against 2.0\u2019s main villain AMELIA<\/a>. On top of those releases, M3GAN<\/strong> will be getting a two-film collection<\/strong> on DVD ($24.95), Blu-ray ($34.95) and 4K ($44.95). There are no special features announced for any of the editions and there’s no release date for them yet. We should know more once M3GAN 2.0 finishes out its blood-soaked theatrical run.<\/p>\n

What Is \u2018M3GAN 2.0\u2019 About?<\/p>\n

M3GAN 2.0 follows Gemma (Allison Williams<\/a>) and her niece Cady (Violet McGraw<\/a>) as they\u2019re once again being threatened by a powerful AI killer. However, this time it isn’t M3GAN who’s been watching over them<\/strong> for the last two years. This time, a rogue government AI robot based on Gemma\u2019s original M3GAN designs, AMELIA, is on a murderous rampage against anyone who has something to do with her creation. The only one who can save them, and the world, is M3GAN<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

This sequel also doesn’t try to recreate the horror thrills of the first movie. 2.0 switches up its genre<\/a> almost completely, being more in line with genre sequels like Terminator 2: Judgment Day<\/strong> and the espionage antics of the classic James Bond films. That has resulted in the film getting a mixed 58% critics’ score<\/a>, which is a far cry from M3GAN\u2019s certified-fresh 93% rating on Rotten Tomatoes<\/a>. It\u2019ll be interesting to see how that affects the sequel\u2019s potential box office gross.<\/p>\n
