GB News is today announcing that it will open a new bureau in Washington DC and launch its services in the United States, in a move that marks a significant milestone in the channel\u2019s global expansion.<\/p>\n

From a studio just close to the White House, the People\u2019s Channel will broadcast a brand new live nightly show hosted by the award-winning broadcaster Bev Turner, who was widely praised for her incisive coverage of the US election.<\/p>\n

The new GB News programme will start broadcasting in September and will bring British audiences closer than ever to the political news which unfolds each day in America.<\/p>\n

It will feature headline-making exclusives, thought-provoking interviews with major figures, and in-depth analysis of the Donald Trump presidency as well as stories from across the US.<\/p>\n

The new two-hour show will add 14 hours of fresh live coverage to GB News every week, and underscores the channel’s growing commitment to live news at a time many rivals are planning on scaling back their coverage to mass reach audiences.<\/p>\n

GB News will also soon announce the appointment of a dedicated US Political Editor, who will join the network\u2019s Capitol Hill operation as part of its expanding American team.<\/p>\n

Last year, the network appointed Steven Edginton, formerly of The Telegraph, as its US Correspondent. His first documentary for GB News, America\u2019s Muslim City, was widely praised for its fearless storytelling and sharp insight. <\/p>\n

The expansion will also see GB News extend its distribution across the US, with content being made available free to all Americans. <\/p>\n

GB News has already amassed a huge audience in the United States via its soaring YouTube channel, which has had more than a quarter-of-a-billion views in America. <\/p>\n

The People\u2019s Channel’s unwavering commitment to free access is in stark contrast to the BBC who last week announced plans to introduce a paywall for those accessing parts of its website from the United States.<\/p>\n

Bev Turner said: ‘What happens in DC, reverberates in GB and we will capture every moment.’<\/p>\n

US-based visitors to BBC.com will now have to pay an annual or monthly fee for access to most BBC News stories and features, and to stream the BBC News channel.<\/p>\n

Commenting on the expansion, Bev said: \u201cWith the gutsiest guests and the most iconic backdrops, I intend to keep viewers up late.<\/p>\n

“Fronting the next stage of GB News’s evolution is both a huge honour and an immense responsibility, and I cannot wait to represent the People’s Channel on a global stage.<\/p>\n

The expansion comes amid surging popularity for GB News across the Atlantic. In January, Similarweb\u2019s prestigious Digital 100 rankings named GBNews.com the fastest-growing news website in America, with a staggering 420 per cent growth in its US audience over the past year.<\/p>\n

GBNews.com now attracts nearly 2.6 million monthly US users, up from just over half a million in 2023, an astonishing rise that has outpaced digital giants including Fox News and The New York Times. Since launching in 2022, the site has welcomed over 55 million US visitors.<\/p>\n

Further evidence of GB News\u2019 unstoppable growth was recognised in a prestigious new report published this month.<\/p>\n

The Reuters Institute Digital News Report 2025 is the most comprehensive study of news consumption worldwide. It provides deep insight into the trends shaping newsroom strategy, audience behaviour and tech disruption across the global media.<\/p>\n

The report, now in its 15th year, is based on YouGov data from almost 100,000 across 48 markets.<\/p>\n

This year\u2019s report concluded how, based on weekly reach, GB News has soared to become the UK\u2019s fourth biggest news media.<\/p>\n

Based on TV, radio, and print data, Reuters ranked GB News above Channel Four News, Channel Five News and CNN, with our position up from eighth position a year ago.<\/p>\n

Online, GBNews.com is ranked the sixth largest news platform in the UK, tied with Telegraph.co.uk.
