\nBreaking ground on the National Centre for Child Health Technology<\/p>\n

Henry Boot Construction has broken ground on the National Centre for Child Health Technology (NCCHT) in Sheffield.<\/p>\n

Going up on the Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park, the 43,000 sq ft NCCHT is being built for the Sheffield Children\u2019s NHS Foundation Trust to improve healthcare for the young and offer a centre of expertise.<\/p>\n

Henry Boot was appointed to deliver the \u00a317m scheme earlier this year. <\/p>\n

Enabling and site establishment works are now complete, and steel<\/a> installation starts this week. \u00a0Completion is expected before the end of 2026.<\/p>\n

The project is funded by the South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority, Sheffield City Council, Sheffield Children\u2019s Hospital Charity and Sheffield Children\u2019s NHS Foundation Trust.<\/p>\n

The NCCHT will include a gait and motion laboratory and computer assisted rehabilitation environment. These facilities will revolutionise the way Sheffield Children\u2019s provides treatment for young people with orthopaedic, rheumatological, neurological and neuromuscular conditions, or with cancer, and will provide collaboration and research opportunities.<\/p>\n

Sheffield Children\u2019s NHS Foundation Trust chief executive Ruth Brown added: \u00a0\u201cSheffield Children\u2019s has come a long way since caring for 29 patients in 1876 \u2013 our first year and from one building. Last year we provided over half a million patient contacts and provide care from many buildings and across communities.<\/p>\n

Through our work with patients, clinical colleagues, academia and industry we will reimagine care for the next 150 years by embracing innovation and providing the very best care, with and for children and young people.\u00a0 <\/p>\n

Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park is where the Don Valley Stadium used to be, which was built for the 1991 World Student Games and then demolished in 2013 because it was too costly to run.<\/p>\n
