{"id":226849,"date":"2025-06-30T14:42:10","date_gmt":"2025-06-30T14:42:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/226849\/"},"modified":"2025-06-30T14:42:10","modified_gmt":"2025-06-30T14:42:10","slug":"neymar-to-play-until-i-can-no-longer-perform-as-i-want-to","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/226849\/","title":{"rendered":"Neymar to play until &#8216;I can no longer perform as I want to&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a data-clubhouse-guid=\"2a051c42-4444-8263-799a-6cdd866bd8f7\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.co.uk\/football\/team?id=205\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Brazil<\/a> forward <a data-player-guid=\"dacc5245-132e-26d2-1e61-fe996765eb0d\" href=\"http:\/\/espn.com\/soccer\/player\/_\/id\/132948\/neymar\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Neymar<\/a> has said he will continue playing football until he can &#8216;no longer perform&#8217; as he wants to.<\/p>\n<p>Neymar, 33, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.co.uk\/football\/story\/_\/id\/45574408\/neymar-extends-santos-contract-2025\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">recently signed<\/a> a contract extension with <a data-player-guid=\"2bfaf470-9b90-cd00-d5ce-b94698adbf6d\" href=\"http:\/\/espn.com\/soccer\/player\/_\/id\/153754\/santos\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Santos<\/a> until the end of the year, with an option to extend it through the 2026 <a data-league-guid=\"34f478c4-cf9a-35da-abd5-33db021e09d2\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.co.uk\/football\/league\/_\/name\/FIFA.WORLD\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">World Cup<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>During an interview carried out by his family members and friends, Neymar was asked by his wife, Bruna Biancardi, why he continues playing professionally and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com.br\/futebol\/santos\/artigo\/_\/id\/15370363\/neymar-desabafa-sobre-julgamentos-diz-por-que-ainda-nao-aposentou-quando-eu-decidir-parar\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">he said<\/a>: &#8220;What drives me is the love I still feel for football.<\/p>\n<p>Editor&#8217;s Picks<\/p>\n<p>2 Related<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The desire I feel to play, to be on the field, that&#8217;s what drives me every day; to wake up, to train. The love I feel for football will never end. It will stay with me for the rest of my life. At some point, the desire to play, because I can no longer do it, because I can no longer perform as I want to, will end &#8230; As long as I still have the desire to play football, you&#8217;ll have to share me, my love.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Neymar rejoined boyhood club Santos earlier this year after ending his contract with <a data-clubhouse-guid=\"35cb1790-1e9c-000b-fa70-640509f3c06e\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.co.uk\/football\/team?id=929\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Al Hilal<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>He spent much of his time in the <a data-league-guid=\"00bb591a-b87e-39ee-91bf-1f9cf0ecfe5a\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.co.uk\/football\/league\/_\/name\/KSA.1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Saudi Pro League<\/a> on the sidelines due to an ACL injury he sustained while on international duty with Brazil in October 2023.<\/p>\n<p>Recurring muscular injuries have limited Neymar to three goals and three assists in 15 games for Santos this year and prevented him from making his long-awaited return to the national team.<\/p>\n<p>Neymar has often <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.co.uk\/football\/story\/_\/id\/37613593\/psg-neymar-never-stop-partying-not-immature\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">faced scrutiny<\/a> for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.co.uk\/football\/story\/_\/id\/44203729\/neymar-fire-missing-santos-game-celebrating-carnival\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">his lifestyle<\/a>. It&#8217;s difficult to stop and see on the internet what isn&#8217;t reality.
