seriously injured in a <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.birminghammail.co.uk\/\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Birmingham<\/a> crash.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">It happened in Caldwell Road, at the junction of Belchers Lane in <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.birminghammail.co.uk\/all-about\/bordesley-green-and-small-heath\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Bordesley Green<\/a>, at around 7.30pm on Saturday, April 12.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Emergency services rushed to the scene and Caldwell Road was sealed off by police.<\/p>\n<p ambulances to the incident.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">They treated a 17-year-old boy who suffered broken bones.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">A spokeswoman for the service said: \u201cWe were called to reports of a road traffic collision involving a van and a pedestrian at the junction of Belchers Lane and Caldwell Road in Bordesley Green at 7.27pm on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">\u201cOn arrival, crews found a teenage boy who they treated for potentially serious injuries.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">\u201cHe was then conveyed, under emergency driving conditions, to <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.birminghammail.co.uk\/all-about\/queen-elizabeth-hospital\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Queen Elizabeth Hospital<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \"><a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.birminghammail.co.uk\/all-about\/west-midlands-police\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">West Midlands Police<\/a> has confirmed that a man has been charged with causing serious injury by dangerous driving and failing to stop.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Shazad Ali, 40, of Tudor Street in Winson Green, appeared at Birmingham Magistrates\u2019 Court.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \"><a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" inbox<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: \u201cWe&#8217;ve charged a man after a teenager was injured when he was hit by a vehicle in Caldwell Road at around 7.30pm on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">\u201cShazad Ali, aged 40 and from Winson Green, was charged with causing serious injury by dangerous driving and failing to stop. He was appearing at Birmingham Magistrates&#8217; Court yesterday, Monday, April 14.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">\u201cThe 17-year-old boy was taken to hospital after sustaining broken bones.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Ali has yet to enter a plea and was remanded in custody.
