{"id":22737,"date":"2025-04-15T19:01:09","date_gmt":"2025-04-15T19:01:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/22737\/"},"modified":"2025-04-15T19:01:09","modified_gmt":"2025-04-15T19:01:09","slug":"people-are-only-just-realising-this-not-so-hidden-secret-about-londons-tube-lines","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/22737\/","title":{"rendered":"People are only just realising this not-so-hidden secret about London&#8217;s Tube lines"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>More than three million people take <a href=\"https:\/\/www.standard.co.uk\/topic\/the-tube\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:the Tube;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">the Tube<\/a> every day, adding up to 1.181 billion journeys between 2023 and 2024.<\/p>\n<p>If you <a href=\"https:\/\/uk.news.yahoo.com\/bike-foot-commuters-london-travel-104449748.html\" data-ylk=\"slk:commute to and from work;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;outcm:mb_qualified_link;_E:mb_qualified_link;ct:story;\" class=\"link  yahoo-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">commute to and from work<\/a> at the very least, that\u2019s two or more Tube rides every day, not to mention any travel outside going to and from the workplace.<\/p>\n<p>However, as people normally while away their time on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.standard.co.uk\/topic\/underground\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Underground;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">Underground<\/a> with their phones, books, music or podcasts, they might not have noticed something right in front of them.<\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/desh_in_videsh\/reels\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Desh Bhatt;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">Desh Bhatt<\/a>, a London-based content creator of tips and tricks for enjoying time in the capital, has shared a video pointing out that the colours of the poles and seats correspond to the Tube line colours.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was today years old when I realised that the colours of the poles and seats match the Tube line colours,\u201d he wrote in the caption, before going on to point out yellow poles and seat patterns on the Circle line, silver for Jubilee, red for the Central line and blue for Victoria.<\/p>\n<p>Those are just a few of the colour-coded Tube lines, of course \u2013 and it\u2019s worth noting that this is a general rule with a few exceptions.<\/p>\n<p>For example, a commentator pointed out that \u201csometimes the district line (green line) has yellow poles, so don&#8217;t jump on a train based on pole colour\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Others have pointed out that the Northern, Metropolitan and Bakerloo lines don\u2019t have colour-matched poles and seats.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s more of a fun fact when you notice it, rather than a specific rule of thumb to apply to all Underground trains.<\/p>\n<p>Some commentators are surprised by the revelation.
