Diana Ross was left laughing as she asked for help during one of her iconic songs. The soul legend was halfway through ‘Upside Down’ when she asked one of her band members for help.<\/p>\n

The 81-year-old dropped her earring on the floor and used the microphone to ask for help. She said: “I can’t bend down like that to pick that up. You know I’m 81, right?”<\/p>\n

A member of her band quickly helped find the earring after it fell out during her set. Shortly after, she brought out her daughter, Rhonda Ross, to sing ‘Count On Me’ in a moving moment at the M&S Bank Arena.<\/p>\n

She has performed the biggest tracks<\/a> from her incredible discography across a two-hour set at tonight’s show<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Over a career that spans more than half a century, Diana has released 27 Top 40 singles, earning a Guinness World Record as the most successful female artist of all time.<\/p>\n

Before the show, the ECHO caught up with fans<\/a> outside the M&S Bank Arena with everyone excited by the memorable night ahead.<\/p>\n

Corly, from Chester, said she did her hair especially for the concert. She said: “I’ve been a fan for a long time. Her songs were always played in my house growing up. It may just be the last time I see her.”<\/p>\n

Sisters Christine, Karen, Diane and Donna, saw Diana perform in Birmingham 40 years ago. They said: “We just love her. We couldn’t miss her coming to Liverpool.”<\/p>\n

Mother and daughter Angela and Faye, from Maghull<\/a>, said they had seen Diana once before in Las Vegas in 2019. Faye said: “We thought why not come and see her again. We’re here for the costume changes. She’s brilliant live, she puts on a good show and she has a nice chat with the audience.”<\/p>\n

Mum and daughter-in-law Maureen and Joanne Starkey came all the way from the West Midlands to see the Motown star as part of a surprise 70th birthday present for Maureen.<\/p>\n

Maureen said: “My son wrote me a lovely poem for my 70th and I was reading it. It said from Roy, Jo and Diana. I thought, ‘who’s Diana? And then I just started crying, it was lovely.”<\/p>\n

Diana was scheduled to perform in the city back in 2020, but her tour was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic. Rescheduled for 2022, her performance at the M&S Bank Arena<\/a> kicked off with ‘I’m Coming Out’ \u2013 a collaboration with Chic’s Nile Rodgers, followed by a medley of hits from The Supremes.<\/p>\n

The vocal powerhouse delivered hit after hit, keeping both old and new fans excited.
